Today in human geography class, we took our world leaders test. I think I did okay, but not great. I need to do good on this, or else my grade will go down and I won't make the A I was aiming for in this class. If not...well there is always next quarter. I think to get all A's in every class, I need to step up my studying and get everything right in my head. I'm tired of half studying and not knowing whether or not I will pass or do good on a test.

In class today, we almost finished discussing country world leaders. We learned many interesting and helpful facts. Something that I and my classmates picked up on was that most of the older brothers in line for the "throne" ended up dying in mysterious ways. You can't help but wondering is it really coincidental. We looked at rulers who are good, and not so good as well. A good example of someone who is mostly loved by their country is Justin Trudeau. An example of a not so good leader would be Vladimir Putin.

Today in class we turned in our world leaders project and looked all together to check if we all got the same people. I think this was a great use of class time. I feel like this is something I would use in my future and it was good information to just have. I myself enjoyed this lesson. I'm glad we not only went over who rules each country, but that we learned more about their life. I'm looking forward to learning more on this topic!

Today in human geography class, we discussed the different parts of a country. Throughout the class we realized what important features make up a country. For example, a nation is a group of people who share similar things like religion, language, and other cultural similarities. We also discussed how our culture has changed. An example would be fast food. During Mr. Schick's childhood, there was probably only just beginning a McDonald's. This McDonald's also wasn't even a drive-thru, but you walked in and then got your food in minutes. Today we have tons of fast food restaurants. Another cultural quality that has changed is sundays. For many Sundays were seen as a rest day. Therefore, many buuildings weren't open. Today we see this only rarely. Banks, and a Chick-fil-a. This is what we learned in class today.

Today in human geography class we went over expected questions that should be on the exam. We were also fortunate enough to receive what the essay question will be on the exam. We went over it and it has made me feel more prepared for this exam. I will definitely be studying that, it should be a few easy points. I'm glad we had this "review day" before exams, I think it really has helped me in order to successfully pass the test. At least I hope so....

Today in human geography class, we discussed what a day of exams would look like, in the hopes to prepare us for what will probably be a few of the worst days this year. Not to mention that I spent most of my weekend studying for the tests, and got only about two done. Everyone is making exams seem like a big deal (and they are) but they are only 20% of our grades, so if I do terribly bad, I probably won't be ruined. So even though I shouldn't be stressing too much, I am. This weekend was also the worst head ache I've had in a really long time so can you tell that I'm excited to review thee last subjects?!?!

Today in human geography class we had a sub teacher. She seemed really strict and did not talk much. Our assignment was to study for our exams. I will gladly do this now rather than at home, because I have no motivation to study or make study sets at home. It must be something to do with tv. Right now I am in the middle of watching Riverdale Season 2. If you haven't watched it before...DO. Also watch Stranger Things because that is my most favorite show in the whole world. Sad I have to wait a whole year again for season 3. In the car today on the ride to school with my dad, we started talking about how there aren't huge books series coming out anytime soon. Book making will soon come to an end becuase people just aren't interested anymore in reading. It's a shame because I love reading. However, I also love movies. Nowadays if you want to be a story teller, writing books is not the best way to do it, but being apart of Hollywood and making movies is where it is at.

Today in human geography class, we got our pop quizzes back. hahahahahhahahahah once again, I have failed it. Maybe I would be able to pay attention more in this class if I was actually proud of my work. Maybe the reason I have trouble paying attention is because I might not be enjoying what I am learning. Which sucks because if I'm going to be in school, I should be engaged in my school work. Bur since I am a hard worker, my goal is to just try and focus better. I'm really not trying to spend my time in this class trying to focus and then fail the exam. So I guess the only thing to do is to study the work. But that leads to another problem. There isn't much to study from.

Today in human geography class we had a pop quiz.............once again!!! The more I come to this class, the more I start to not like it. Sorry if you are reading this, but do't take it personally. I don't know. It's just your teaching style. I am the type of person who usually seems to be able to get an A in a class where the teacher teaches with notes on the board and we just listen. But it seems that writing these down in a notebook isn't exactly helping me study. I also feel that I can not stay focused in you class. Also I can't seem to understand why we are having a test the week of exams.

Today in human geography class we looked at more graphs. Each graph differs based on personal things that might happen in that country. For example wars, women going to college. Another one that surprised me was birth control. When birth control got more popular and people didn't think it was dangerous, it slowed down the birth rate of many countries. Ages 15-19 are about 1/4 of the population of births. Since a lot of girls nowadays use birth control then years ago, the birth rate for girls our age is most likely smaller. There are many other different things that factor into why our populations look as they do, tune in for more blogs.

Today in human geography class discussed the future! Great topic huh? May might be scared of the future and many excited. I am both. I'm nervous that maybe my dreams might not come true but, excited for what we have ahead and the difference we can make on the world. I mean think of the technology we have to come. I mentioned in class today that f anyone of us can think it, what is stopping us from doing it? We see crazy things in movies these day and it makes us think oh that could never happen. Well all it takes is a spark in the mind and what maybe 10 or 20 years later it might just be a thing. You'd also be amazed how fast we catch on with everything around us. It seems crazy to maybe have a chip in our head someday that acts as a phone, but we would get used to it, and would learn to love it. Loved this discussion!

Today in human geography class, we discussed more on population pyramids and how the different countries vary based on their population and pass events. we also looked at how these pyramids are always changing. Events that effected these pyramids might be wars, diseases and many other causes. The teacher also mentioned that the different ways of life compared to now and then, have changed extremely as well. For example, there are now more women today in the world then men who are enrolled in college. Back then it was a joke to say women were going to school or be a doctor. We were expected to stay home and watch the kids and tend to the house. If our jobs failed our next best was a secretary or phone operator. Great class!

Today in human geography class we went over our tests that we recently took. I am proud to say that I no longer have an F in this class. I received an 85 on this test and feel very good with my work. I'm really not the F type so you can imagine that this grade sitting here for a week or two really made me a freak. After this, we talked more on the kiva.org project. Unfortunately I have not been able to make a donation yet, but will finish that tonight. I checked over the weekend to double check the people I had considered lending to, and found that both had either made their goal, or had run out of time. So tonight I will do a little more research and find another person to help out. I think this is a really great website to help those in need. It seems to be very effective. I hope you continue to make this an assignment for the rest of your teaching years!

Research Kiva.org . Describe your findings, such as their goals, methods, efficiency, and reputation. Research potential borrowers. Find at least two borrowers and describe their business, their reasons for wanting a microloan, their past history, etc. Look at the big picture. Check out the city and country they live in, and describe what effect their location has on their need to borrow. Write your findings in an essay and post it to your blog. This should be a well-written, informative, and possibly inspirational essay that shows how much you have learned about developing nations, poverty throughout the world, and ways of dealing with this difficult situation. Kiva.org is a site that is used by about a million people who lend money to those in need. When you go onto the cite, you will find different profiles on some one or a group of people and a biography of why they want the money you might be willing to lend to them. This cite seems to work very efficiently as y...

Today in human geography class, we took a test. Yay for test. Will it hopefully bring my still an F in this class? I think so! I don't think I did terrible on it so it can't make it go down even lower. I thought I would end up hating the timed portion of the test, but found it pretty easy and probably saved my grade. I also liked how you emailed us a study guide for the test. It helped me a ton! I suggest we do this for more to come so everyone will pass this class. Okay well since this is all we did today in class I'm gonna stop talking now. I'm ready for western civilization though now.

Today in human geography class, we shared the rest of the projects that hadn't been shared. I learned that we have a test on Monday about population pyramids. This class isn't making much sense to me lately and I don't know how to study for it because we haven't taken good notes in this class. I have continued to have an F in this class and can't get it up even though we have done three grade assignments since. This makes this my least favorite class right now, though I thought it would be my favorite. So no, my school life hs not improved in the past few days.

Today in human geography class, we finished up the rest of the projects that hadn't been shared. I really don't know what to write in this blog, considering that is the only thing we've done in this class in for the past two days is share projects. So let's talk about Christmas. Christmas is by far, every child's favorite holiday. Hey my name is Holiday. That's neat. Anyway, it seems strange that it is next month. I feel like from October-January is the part of the year that goes by so fast. Since this is my favorite part of the year, it makes me upset. So of course my least favorite part of the year (February-May) takes forever. But we can't forget about Thanksgiving. I WILL be playing Christmas music in the car on the way home from our thanksgiving dinner.

Today in human geography class we shared our projects on population pyramids. I hope this assignment will help bring my grade up and make me feel better, because I need good news on school. Since there is nothing else to discuss, I'm going to talk about my life. So right now my school life feels like it is all going to down hill. I'm an A and B student and I keep starting out each quarter with bad grades that cause me to stress. I eventually get them up and then I'm satisfied but, then it just starts all over again. I took my first trip to New York on Sunday and had so much fun. Before I went there, I new I already wanted to live there when I was older. Now that I have officially been there, it makes waiting seem like a lot to have to do. It's funny that when I tell people I want to live in NYC when I'm older, they say I seem like someone who would live there. I take that as a compliment. So my life right now seems a mess, but it's looking good for the future.

Today in human geography class, we were very relieved to learn that Mr. Schick was willing to give s another try on our quiz that everyone failed the day before. Though he thought it would be an easy quiz for us, he would soon find out that everyone would most likely be failing his class afterward. I guess taking a retake helped some people, but can we just conclude that pop quizes ar enot the way to go? That sure would solve my problem in this class. After we retook the quiz we got in groups for a grade on population pyramids. Yes more grading. At least this time we might be able to pass it. I'm also not good at timed testing. So I guess taking a timed test was good for practice. This is how class went today.

Today was sadly a not so good class. We started off with a fire drill. The alarm made my ears hurt and it was cold outside so that wasn't much fun. Even better was that when we came back in Mr. Schick did another one of his pop quiz surprises that I got 2 out of 10 correct. My grade is already low in this class because I didn't submit a blog the day I was out for the play saying I was out. Because of this, I now have a C in this class (which is so unlike me) and will drop even more from this pop quiz. It doesn't make sense but oh well I'll survive I guess. I mean it's only a few days into the second quarter and my grades are already falling apart. I even told myself that my goal for this marking period was to get my grades together and make honors. First quarter my GPA was 3.987. I guess not enough. So here's hoping for this quarter. My prayers go to my grades.
