Today in human geography class we looked at more graphs. Each graph differs based on personal things that might happen in that country. For example wars, women going to college. Another one that surprised me was birth control. When birth control got more popular and people didn't think it was dangerous, it slowed down the birth rate of many countries. Ages 15-19 are about 1/4 of the population of births. Since a lot of girls nowadays use birth control then years ago, the birth rate for girls our age is most likely smaller. There are many other different things that factor into why our populations look as they do, tune in for more blogs.
Today's class was one of the most interesting ones we've had so far. Today's discussion focused mainly around what thinking globally and acting locally means. What do they mean? An example used in class today was farming. If everyone starting farming for their fruits and vegetables, it would affect grocery stores. Now of course the stores wouldn't go out of business, the fruits and vegetables rate being sold would increase. So in other words, something we did locally would effect globally. But besides this discussion we talked about our thoughts on voting. How more older people tend to vote more nowadays. This brought up the discussion of weather or not the age for kids to be able to start voting should be lowered to age 16. In my opinion, I think at this age we are too young and immature to be asked and vote for political affairs, because honestly everyone would just think the same as their parents.
