Today in human geography class, we were very relieved to learn that Mr. Schick was willing to give s another try on our quiz that everyone failed the day before. Though he thought it would be an easy quiz for us, he would soon find out that everyone would most likely be failing his class afterward. I guess taking a retake helped some people, but can we just conclude that pop quizes ar enot the way to go? That sure would solve my problem in this class. After we retook the quiz we got in groups for a grade on population pyramids. Yes more grading. At least this time we might be able to pass it. I'm also not good at timed testing. So I guess taking a timed test was good for practice. This is how class went today.
Today's class was one of the most interesting ones we've had so far. Today's discussion focused mainly around what thinking globally and acting locally means. What do they mean? An example used in class today was farming. If everyone starting farming for their fruits and vegetables, it would affect grocery stores. Now of course the stores wouldn't go out of business, the fruits and vegetables rate being sold would increase. So in other words, something we did locally would effect globally. But besides this discussion we talked about our thoughts on voting. How more older people tend to vote more nowadays. This brought up the discussion of weather or not the age for kids to be able to start voting should be lowered to age 16. In my opinion, I think at this age we are too young and immature to be asked and vote for political affairs, because honestly everyone would just think the same as their parents.
