Today in Human geography class, we discussed more on the topic of immigration and population. We looked at 3 different types of population pyramids. There is the tree, box, and cup. The U.S. is seen as the box because the number of people alive during childhood and elders is about the same. An example of the cup would be Japan. Japan is also known for kids dying younger and elders dving longer. Besides this, we discussed part of of Mr. Schick's life before he somehow became a teacher. I know I've probably said this before in an earlier post, but the job you had, is really what i what to do when I am older. It amazes me how you got to do that! That is why I asked you how you got into that job, and you make it seem easy, but I look at famous people and they talk about how hard it was for them to get where they are today, and that they made it. I want to be famous someday and sometimes question whether or not I have it in me and doubt. So I kinda look up to you in that way:) Great class discussion looking forward to more!
In human geography class today, we finished dividing our regions by the various similarities they shared. My group also noticed a mistake we had been making and fixed it. That was that we weren't exactly dividing the regions to their correct category. For example, when we compared the different maps of presidential votes, we mistakenly put a few states together that weren't always 100% together. Some might have gone democratic one year while the others might have gone republic. I also hadn't picked up that we could divide them up based on weather/temperature. This caught my eye on a few states that were out of place as well. This changes things! This is what also divides us into different cultures. Culture is what makes up a specific region or group of people based on customary beliefs, material traits, and social forms. With the knowledge of the different regions and why they are in that region, it can help us to define what kinds of people may live there. This is what I g...
