Today in Human geography class, we researched different places around the world and gave cool facts on them. At first I went to the wrong website and found out that you can legally marry a dead person, true or not, I think that's a really weird and interesting. When that fact was shut down I discovered that the school life expectancy was 17 years for girls and only 16 for boys. Is that weird? To me that seems weird. Why does gender matter when it comes to what year you can stop going to school? In the United States it is 16 for everyone. It makes me wonder what makes them think girls should have to be in an extra year before dropping out. But anyway, aside from today's class assignment, I found out that I got a 50 on your quiz, so not as good as I hoped.
Today's class was one of the most interesting ones we've had so far. Today's discussion focused mainly around what thinking globally and acting locally means. What do they mean? An example used in class today was farming. If everyone starting farming for their fruits and vegetables, it would affect grocery stores. Now of course the stores wouldn't go out of business, the fruits and vegetables rate being sold would increase. So in other words, something we did locally would effect globally. But besides this discussion we talked about our thoughts on voting. How more older people tend to vote more nowadays. This brought up the discussion of weather or not the age for kids to be able to start voting should be lowered to age 16. In my opinion, I think at this age we are too young and immature to be asked and vote for political affairs, because honestly everyone would just think the same as their parents.
