Today in class we started mentally mapping out the continents and our route to school. I think I was actually pretty good at doing both. It's funny because our parents get on us in the car when they think our heads are drilled to our phones. They think our lives revolve around them. They don't. Phones have made us smarter human beings as a whole. We should actually know more than older generations because we are fortunate enough to have the technology we have to answer basically any question we need to know. Technology makes us smarter, it's not distracting us from the world, it's teaching us. I also believe that technology helps us with photo graphic memory. That's why I was able to mentally draw our continents and routes. I'm very bad at geography. From my old school, we had had no studies of geography. Like barely. So I'm excited to further my knowledge in this class, and learn more on the topic.
Today's class was one of the most interesting ones we've had so far. Today's discussion focused mainly around what thinking globally and acting locally means. What do they mean? An example used in class today was farming. If everyone starting farming for their fruits and vegetables, it would affect grocery stores. Now of course the stores wouldn't go out of business, the fruits and vegetables rate being sold would increase. So in other words, something we did locally would effect globally. But besides this discussion we talked about our thoughts on voting. How more older people tend to vote more nowadays. This brought up the discussion of weather or not the age for kids to be able to start voting should be lowered to age 16. In my opinion, I think at this age we are too young and immature to be asked and vote for political affairs, because honestly everyone would just think the same as their parents.
