When I made up my mind to attend John Carroll, I expected to be that little freshman girl who is constantly getting lost, doesn't know how to use her computer, and knows just about no one. They keep telling me to get involved in clubs and sports (which seems like I'm doing pretty well at that). It's now day two and I already feel apart of the school. I was scared I wouldn't be able to keep up with my work and do all the things I wanted, but I believe that John Carroll is the type of school welcoming you to try hundreds of new things out, while still working around your schedule. It really is going to be a family! I went to Perryville Middle School, so I don't know anyone from schools in Harford County except for my friends from gymnastics. So meeting knew people is definitely going to be harder, but the people I've had the pleasure of meeting so far all seem really nice. Because John Carroll is so welcoming to different schools, I'm in the same boat as a lot of people. There are people here from schools that I've never even heard of who probably know no one too. Another way that I found is helpful to meeting knew people is doing the sports, or musicals, and clubs. Today I auditioned to be a dancer for "Grease.'' Of course like everyone I was nervous, but knowing that we were all doing the same thing took the fear away. It ended up going really well! I'm also doing cheerleading for my fall sport, which is also a fun way to be involved with the school. I really think I'm going to love this school even more as I continue my high school experience.
For today's human geography blog I'd like to start out by saying something I wish I would have spoke up in class today. The question was what is the right and wrong thing to do when a customer comes to you for a wedding cake for two males on top? Do you make it or not? It really upset me when my classmates didn't say anything as if it was okay, but then it occurred to me that I wasn't saying anything about the matter either. I soon regretted not speaking my opinions on the matter to create more class discussion. First, I'd like to begin by making my opinions on gay, lesbians, and bi relationships. To me it doesn't matter your religion, or what your parents say on the matter, you can think whatever you want on what is right and wrong to this topic. Your parents shouldn't influence your decision or what the bible says. Also I don't know why people make such a big deal about this as well. It's fine if they don't support it, but they also don't h...
